Geeky HBO Releases The First Official Set Photos From ‘GoT’ Prequel ‘House of the Dragon’

    By Liz Kocan - Decider

We’re finally getting a look at the mother of the mother of the mother of dragons! Or maybe the great-great aunt? I don’t even know anymore with these family trees. House of the Dragon, the first of the Game of Thrones prequels coming from HBO Max, which tells the story of the House Targaryen, is currently in production, and the network has released some early photos from the set featuring the actors in character. (Behind-the-scenes photos of the cast at work were released last week.)

House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, and the ten-episode series, which takes place 300 years before Game of Thrones, will offer some backstory on the family history of Daenerys Targaryen. Fire & Blood, which was published in 2018, is just the first part of a two-part history of the Targaryan legend, and the story includes the origins of Daenerys’s dragon eggs, and the family’s legacy in Dragonstone.

In one of the photos released by HBO Max Matt Smith, who portrays Prince Daemon Targaryen, the younger brother of King Viserys and heir to the throne, is featured alongside Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, king’s first-born child.

Another photo features Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, the Hand of King Viserys, who considers Daemon a threat to the King, along with his daughter, Alicent, who was raised in the Red Keep. Alicent Hightower is played by Olivia Cooke.

The final photo HBO released shows Steve Toussaint in character as Lord Corlys Velaryon aka “The Sea Snake.” The Sea Snake is said to be the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros.

It sure is great to see those platinum wigs back in action! As excited as we are to see these photos, it’s obvious that HBO Max is keeping some assets under wraps, as there are no images yet of Paddy Considine, who will be playing King Viserys.

House of the Dragon‘s premiere date has not yet been announced, but it will be some time in 2022.

After the shit they pulled with utterly trashing the ending of the first series to complete unwatchable annoying garbage....

....I wouldnt trust them not to fuck up a prequel and make it similarly retarded
