    Since the bold part is optional, yes you have suffered racism. I think it's ok though to at least have a civil discussion about the many different contexts of racism, without one form cancelling out another?

    I get what you're saying, but is sweeping it all under the carpet a solution? I'm not saying it isn't, I'm just not convinced that it is

    The key word there is "typically".

    I'm not saying sweep it under the carpet, I'm just pointing out that there is no boogey-man. Discrimination is discrimination and we all suffer it at times.
