Another Life 1-2,3
Non spoiler description from a recent Another Life episode:
In one scene Starbuck and another crew member (hot chick #2) are in the engine room repairing things. There are pipes, steam, valves and round analog gauges. One of them is tightening a bolt with a wrench and the other is pretending to do the same on a boiler-looking thing.
Cut to two other crewmates repairing things in another room. The room looks like it's from a different show with all LDC screens, futuristic panels and lighting throughout. They both have little doors open and are repairing circuits or the insides of a PC.
Keep in mind this a show set far enough into the future they make a reference to someone famous from the '20th century.' Yet within two minutes we go from an old steamship to Space 2297
They're moving the camera around like BSG and I think they're trying to go for a similar organic old school feel. A couple of horrible deaths which is jarring because the show seems so fake up to those moments and Starbuck dropping the F-bomb every 5 minutes makes it weirder still
I think Hal would like the show 'Heartland'..
More Breaking Bad
It's an absurd amount of US shows that are filmed in Canada. Unless they are shows that need to be filmed 'on location' in a place like LA or NYC, they film them in Canada, and a shit ton of them are all filmed in BC. You guys give way more incentives to the production companies than the states do down here.

Yeah I can almost recognize when they use our places for night scenes etc
The one I always remember is the movie Silver Streak with Gene Wilder. Supposed to be a movie set on a US train starting in Chicago I think. One long shot of the train traveling through some picturesque countryside and they said - We're just going past Kansas City. I see my city's skyline complete with the Calgary Tower
no CGI cleanup in those days.

Do you remember years ago I said that every mystery show seemed to have episodes in Colorado? Like one out of three....you said BS but I recall almost every episodic TV show from X-Files to Supernatural having handfuls of eps in Colorado.
Besides your satanic airport and secret undergroud bunkers in the mountains, why is Colorado always a place where shitfests start?
Ya, that and the Canadian dollar being so weak. For a few years there it was on par with the US dollar and the BC film industry ('Hollywood North' as they call it) took a HUGE hit. It's booming again now though. I'd wager 75% of ads I see on TV that have cities in the background are in Vancouver, and a good chunk of TV too (especially the lower budget cable shows).
Right down the street from my house there's this weird old 2-story fully concrete building with no windows. It was some sort of bank-related building that now has no tenant and is slated to be re-developed someday, so there's filming there probably every other week. They have to give us film notices on our doors by law. They've filmed a few of those Marvel-based TV shows, Arrow, X-Files, a movie or two. They filmed a X-Files scene there a year or so ago where there was a big car crash on the round-about right outside my door. They rammed two cars into each-other right over the round-about at a pretty good speed which was cool to see. Another time they filmed a riot scene at night which was pretty crazy. There was even a paparazzi who stood on our patio (we're street level) to take shots of Gillian Anderson Cool guy, told me there only about 2-3 pap in the city so it's good work (despite my feelings that they're scumbags).
