Allow me to describe the premise of Another Life that's established in episode one.
An alien ship arrives at Earth and leaves something here. Since the braintrust can't figure out what the object is, they decide to travel light years away to the origin of where the ship came from.
Just let that settle for a minute...
Starbuck is the commander of the ship and has 5 to infinity crewmates, depending on who they wake up from hypersleep for the episode. Every crewmate is under 25 and I have yet to know their names, backstories and/or anything about them after watching an entire season. (except one) They all seem to have the same job on the ship except the trans person who is a doctor?
Ship has LED computer screens with no real controls, yet has steam pipes with analog gauges that are fixed with wrenches.
Starbuck has a mysterious past where lots of people died under her command, yet they never explain what happened or why.
**mild plot spoiler for episode 7**
The crew gets drugged and the solution to sober them up is to have a virtual rave. They dance and get jiggy for the entire episode, along with getting horny. It was worse than a similar scene from Star Trek Discovery and that's saying something. Starbuck trying to dance seductively alongside 20 something people was cringy and I'm being kind.
The one or two ideas that were actually cool, were blatantly stolen from other movies and TV shows.
Bad sets, bad acting, bad writing...and every so often a crew member would die doing something stupid.
Oh, and I used to like Katee Sackhoff. Here her face looks so tense it was almost hard to watch at times because she makes a permanent duckface along with bulging eyes.
2/10 and I'm being generous.
