Big Blow To Chinese & Russian Air Force As Their ‘Most Advanced’ Fighter Jet Is Being Decoded By US, UK Scientists

The Ukraine war has seen Russia losing a significant number of aircraft, tanks and armored vehicles. The biggest shock, though, was the revelation that Moscow’s most advanced non-stealth fighter plane, Su-35, had been shot down by Ukrainian forces.

It now looks like it is destined to become a critical challenge for the Kremlin, as its most advanced piece of technology may slip into the hands of the United States.

The secret long-range targeting system of Russia’s most sophisticated fighter plane is being examined by British and American scientists, Express reported. Though the aircraft was destroyed, reports claim that enough of the targeting system remained for a thorough examination.

Downed Russian fighter jets are being found with basic GPS 'taped to the dashboards,' UK defense minister says

    Bill Bostock - Insider

Wrecked Russian fighter jets are being found with rudimentary GPS receivers "taped to the dashboards" in Ukraine because their inbuilt navigation systems are so bad, the UK's defense secretary, Ben Wallace, said.

Speaking at the National Army Museum in London Monday, Wallace commemorated those who died in World War II and called Russia's invasion of Ukraine "senseless and self-defeating."

He added that there was evidence suggesting Russian military hardware was being pushed to breaking point by the invasion of Ukraine.

"'GPS' receivers have been found taped to the dashboards of downed Russian Su-34s so the pilots knew where they were, due to the poor quality of their own systems," he said.

"The result is that whilst Russia have large amounts of artillery and armor that they like parading, they are unable to leverage them for combined arms maneuver and just resort to mass indiscriminate barrages," he added.

The Su-34 was first manufactured in the Soviet Union in the early 1990s but is still one of Russia's leading fighter jets.

Ukraine has shared abundant evidence of what it says are Russia's attempts to patch over issues with old military equipment and bypass equipment shortages.

Last month, Ukrainian troops paraded what they said was a Russian drone that had been covered in duct tape and fitted with a generic plastic bottle top for a fuel cap. In March, Ukrainian troops found what appeared to be Russian army bandages dating to 1978 discarded on a battlefield.

In his Monday speech, Wallace said Russian vehicles "are frequently found with 1980s paper maps of Ukraine in them" and that soldiers were using "pine logs as makeshift protection on logistical trucks" and attaching "overhead 'cope cages' to their tanks."

Russia held its annual Victory Day military parade in Moscow on Monday but canceled the air force flyby over what it said was bad weather.

During his speech, Russian President Vladimir Putin didn't declare all-out war on Ukraine as Western officials, including Wallace, had expected. He instead praised Russian troops fighting in the eastern Donbas region of Ukraine and slammed NATO and the US.

Russia Accused of Kidnapping Own Citizens to Fight War in Ukraine

Shannon Vavra, National Security Reporter - The Daily Beast

Citizens of the Russian republic of Chechnya are reporting that they are being kidnapped against their will and forced to fight as “volunteers” in Russia’s war in Ukraine, according to several human rights organizations.

Hundreds of Chechen people are being rounded up for “mass abductions,” 1Adat, a human rights group that advocates against corruption in Chechnya and Russian propaganda, reported.

“The abducted are required to sign a paper stating that they are volunteers to be sent to Ukraine, otherwise they are threatened with fabrication of criminal cases,” 1Adat said in a statement. “Everyone who goes to Ukraine in this way will be used on the front line, like cannon fodder.”

Vayfond, another human rights organization, said earlier this month that it was receiving “dozens” of messages from people in Chechnya that they were being forced to prepare to go to Ukraine, despite the fact that they weren’t members of law enforcement or military as well.

The Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, who has been one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s most aggressive supporters during the war in Ukraine, has also suggested that citizens who volunteers to fight in Ukraine could be paid 300,000 rubles.

The reported forceful recruitment of fighters in Chechnya is just the latest indication that Russian troops are faltering in Ukraine. They’ve lost tens of thousands of soldiers over three months into the war, according to Ukrainian military tallies, so much so that they have had to abandon some ambitious goals in the war and regroup to focus their assault on the east of Ukraine.

In light of the losses, for months, Moscow has been working to lean on other sources of personnel and mercenary fighters, such as those from the Russian Wagner Group, according to U.S. intelligence assessments.

Lately, Russian forces have been "finding it difficult" to fight the war in Ukraine, Kadyrov noted during remarks in Moscow last week.

Kadyrov has previously claimed that he was working in Ukraine to help with the war effort. And although the Kremlin has denied Kadyrov’s claims—Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said he had “no knowledge” of Kadyrov being in Ukraine—according to multiple intelligence outfits, Chechen fighters are indeed deployed in Ukraine now.

According to British intelligence, the Russian government has already relied on Chechen fighters in its assault on Mariupol. After meeting stiff resistance from Ukrainians, Russian forces suffered significant personnel losses and needed to supplement with alternative fighters, an intelligence assessment from the U.K. Ministry of Defense earlier this month said.

“Staunch Ukrainian resistance delayed Russia’s ability to gain full control over the city,” the U.K. Ministry of Defense said. “In attempting to overcome Ukrainian resistance, Russia has made significant use of auxiliary personnel. This includes a deployment of Chechen forces, likely consisting of several thousand fighters primarily concentrated in the Mariupol and Luhansk sectors.”

Those fighting forces at the time likely included individual volunteers and National Guard units, according to the U.K. intelligence readout. Kadyrov and his cousin Adam Delimkhanov had close control over the deployments.

“The combat deployment of such disparate personnel demonstrates Russia's significant resourcing problems in Ukraine and is likely contributing to a disunited command which continues to hamper Russia’s operations,” the Ministry of Defense added.

Ukrainian intelligence has also accused Chechnya of recruiting fighters for the war in Ukraine, primarily for Mariupol and Luhansk. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine shared a list of names of 2425 Chechen fighters allegedly involved in the fighting earlier this month.

“The so-called ‘Kadyrovites’ began to enter the territory of Ukraine in the first days of the large-scale military invasion of Russia,” the intelligence agency said.

Putin claims Russia's war in Ukraine is just beginning

By Paul Best | Fox News

Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the West of waging a proxy war in Ukraine on Thursday and said that the world should know the war is just beginning, nearly five months after launching the invasion.

"Everybody should know that largely speaking, we haven’t even yet started anything in earnest," Putin told parliamentary leaders.

"The course of history is unstoppable, and attempts by the collective West to enforce its version of the global order are doomed to fail."

For the first time in weeks, Putin also claimed that Russia is willing to sit down for peace talks with Ukraine, warning that "the longer it lasts the more difficult it will be for them to make a deal with us."

Ukraine has put up a fierce defense of its territory, backed up by billions worth of Western arms that the U.S. and allies have sent to repel Russian forces.

Russia's overtures at peace talks, meanwhile, are likely empty gestures, US officials have said in recent weeks.

"We have not seen any interest on the part of Vladimir Putin in engaging in any kind of meaningful diplomatic initiative," US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said last week at the NATO Public Forum.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, listed Ukraine's conditions for peace on Sunday, including a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Russian troops, the return of kidnapped citizens, and other measures.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has shifted to the eastern Donbas in recent months after Putin's forces failed to take the capital of Kyiv in the early days of the war.

The Russian military claimed victory in the Luhansk province earlier this week and is conducting an offensive in the other Donbas province, Donetsk.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Mystery Russia Says It’s Losing Because Ukraine Has Experimental Mutant Troops Created in Secret Biolabs

Allison Quinn - The Daily Beast

Nearly five months into its senseless war against Ukraine, Russia has concocted a wild new explanation for why the Kremlin’s plans for a quick takeover fell apart so spectacularly—because Ukrainian troops were turned into superhuman killing machines during “secret experiments” in American-run biolabs, of course.

Never mind the myriad reports of Russian troops refusing to fight by the thousands, sabotaging their own shoddy equipment and even deliberately wounding themselves to abandon the war, Russian lawmakers claim the real setback for Moscow was “drugged up” Ukrainian soldiers.

That claim was made Monday by two Russian lawmakers heading up a commission to investigate “biolaboratories” in Ukraine, Kommersant (article in Russian) reported.

Konstantin Kosachev, the deputy speaker of Russia’s Federation Council, and Irina Yarovaya, deputy chair of the State Duma, touted what they described as bombshell findings from the “investigation.”

Testing of Ukrainian POWs’ blood, they claimed, uncovered “a range of diseases” that suggest they were secretly experimented on “for military purposes.”

“And we see: the cruelty and barbarity with which the military personnel of Ukraine behave, the crimes that they commit against the civilian population, those monstrous crimes that they commit against prisoners of war, confirm that this system for the control and creation of a cruel murder machine was implemented under the management of the United States,” Yarovaya was quoted telling reporters.

“And those performance enhancing drugs that they are still given in order to completely neutralize the last traces of human consciousness and turn them into the most cruel and deadly monsters also confirm this,” she claimed.

Bizarrely, she also claimed that the presence of Hepatitis A antibodies in Ukrainian prisoners’ blood was proof of an American biolabs conspiracy, since a former health minister for Ukraine was a dual Ukrainian-American citizen who had worked to acquire drugs for the treatment of hepatitis in the country.

“It is quite possible that this was about testing these drugs on military personnel,” Yarovaya said.

The claims appeared to be a new take on the biolabs conspiracy theory that Russia’s Defense Ministry has routinely rolled out to try and justify the war.

While the conspiracy theory dates all the way back to the Soviet Union, it has been amplified more frequently by Kremlin figures after the Feb. 24 invasion, as Moscow’s initial claim that it invaded Ukraine in order to “de-Nazify” a country led by a Jewish president failed to gain much traction beyond its own domestic propaganda.

The latest iteration appears to be aimed at explaining away Russia’s military setbacks by way of mutant Ukrainian troops.
