LGBT Remakes Of ‘Fight Club’ And ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ Are In The Works

LGBT remakes of the cult classic “Fight Club” and the romantic comedy favorite “My Best Friend’s Wedding” are in the works as Hollywood continues to inject woke culture into everything these days — apparently including classic movies.

Cindy Crawford’s model daughter, Kaia Gerber, will star in an upcoming film titled “Bottoms” that’s been described as a Lesbian version of the famed 1999 thriller starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Jared Leto, reported Deadline magazine in a recent piece.

The movie is being directed by Emma Seligman for MGM’s Orion Pictures and Brownstone Productions. It will star Gerber along with such stars as Rachel Sennott, Ayo Edebiri, Marshawn Lynch, Ruby Cruz, Havana Rose Liu, and more.

The movie centers on two queer unpopular girls who start a fight club in their senior year of school to impress and have sex with cheerleaders, the outlet noted.

As reported by Paper Magazine,

The creation of Bottoms was rooted in Sennott’s desire “to see something with really shitty female characters who are just despicable in their actions in the way that we’ve seen a lot of male characters in raunchy comedies,” while Seligman hoped to make “something for queer teen girls.” So, when discussing the project’s genesis, Seligman stated: “We met in the middle.”

With production beginning this spring, Seligman has teased that the film will contain “fun, more raunchy depictions of queer women” than we’ve seen in recent years. “We’ve gotten the conversion therapy story, the very cutesy story and others as well — I love a lot of those movies,” she stated, but wanted something more akin to teen sex comedies.

And not to be outdone in the woke department, the outlet recently reported that Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose will star in a twist on the famed Julia Roberts romantic 1997 film “My Best Friend’s Wedding.” Only this time the movie will be told from the point of view of DeBose character who’s described as “a bisexual Latinx.”

The movie “Two and Only” is being executive produced by DeBose for Screen Gems with an original screenplay by Latina and LGBTQ+ writer Jen Rivas-DeLoose.

DeBose recently took home the Best Supporting Actress Award, as the first openly queer woman of color, for her role as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s remake of “West Side Story.” During her acceptance speech she talked about being queer, as previously reported by the Daily Wire.

During her award speech, DeBose talked about being queer, and sent a message to anyone who’s ever questioned their identity.

“Lastly, imagine this little girl in the back seat of a white Ford Focus,” Debose explained. “Look into her eyes. You see queer – an openly queer woman of color, an Afro‑Latina, who found her strength in life through art. And that’s what I believe we’re here to celebrate. Yeah.

“So, to anybody who has ever questioned your identity, ever, ever, or you find yourself living in the gray spaces, I promise you this: There is indeed a place for us,” she added.
