The 308 Winchester is the round/cartridge/bullet. The AR-10 is the gun. It's an AR that takes the 308 Winchester or 7.62 x 51 NATO rounds. Magpul produces magazines that take 10 rounds, 20 rounds and 25 rounds, and they also have a 50 round drum. Most of my magazines are 25 rounds although I do have a 20 round magazine, and I'm not quite sure if that's the first mag I bought for the rifle, or if I mistakenly bought it later, since I'm almost always buying magazines and ammo for my guns, especially when they're on sale.
What I was saying was the 308 Winchester/7.62x51 NATO round is larger than the AR-15s 5.56 NATO/223 round, so the magazine capacities for the AR-10 will be smaller than the AR-15 since the 308 round takes up more space.
If you're scared of the AR-15, you'll be absolutely terrified of the AR-10.

Got it. My grandfather had a 308 hunting rifle. So I guess that was referring to the calibre when they said 'taking the 308 out". I'm comfortable with that and the pow pow pow sound. In West Virginia what I hate to hear is a quick spray of bullets in the forest.
My understanding is that military weapons are full automatic and not available for the average folk, even in the US.
The only military weapons I have shot were in Vietnam, recently. Military tourism. Lol. Can't remember what it was but definitely not an AK-47. Much louder and I wore ear protection

Aside from my AR, I buy all lever action rifles..
My weapon of choice is a side-by side, single shot, semi-auto, over-under, lever action pistol
