Bond girl Ana de Armas says there's 'no need' for James Bond to be female
Ana de Armas, who appeared in last year's James Bond film No Time to Die as a fierce and fighting secret agent, doesn't think 007 should one day be a woman.
Speaking to The Sun, Armas, 34, said: "There's no need for a female Bond."
"There shouldn't be any need to steal someone else's character, you know, to take over," she added.
"This is a novel, and it leads into this James Bond world and this fantasy of that universe where he's at."
The actress' comments come as questions come to be asked about who will be the next James Bond, given actor Daniel Craig has finally parted with the role.
But that doesn't mean that de Armas doesn't think there can be some tweaking done of the female characters portrayed in future Bond films.
"What I would like is that the female roles in the Bond films, even though Bond will continue to be a man, are brought to life in a different way," she said.
"That they're given a more substantial part and recognition. That's what I think is more interesting than flipping things."
