I still want to know how many interviews they took before getting enough content for this video but... yikes
My favorite part is that he always tells them that they are right
I used to teach History and I expect most of the stuff we went over is probably lost but I hope enough sank in that I don't ever see any of my kids in something like this.

I wonder if this has fundamentally changed ours brains. We're like cyborgs now with our phones. They're so incredibly powerful you'd be at a huge disadvantage not to use one. On one hand, I read a lot of books but I feel like my ability to access some of the stuff I've read just isn't as great as I'd like it to be... but I can google that information back into my hands like nobody's business. So what does that say?
My grandmother had insane knowledge of European and biblical history because that's all she read. She'd smoke me in a history trivia contest about her areas of expertise, but give us both phones and she's doomed. I don't know exactly what my point is but it's interesting. There's clearly a lot of downsides which we all harp on a lot, but in other ways we're like gods compared to humans just a few decades back with what we can do with a phone in our hands.
I'd lean toward yes. I don't know to what extent but it sure seems like the younger generation don't seem to retain basic knowledge. It's like one of those movies or book where everyone in society has a computer chip in their brains that accesses the net, no reason to use our real brains to store any of it long term.
Gave a father and young (13-14YO) daughter a tour of one of our lakefront condos yesterday, the kid didn't even look up from her phone the whole time except when asked what she thought of the views. Even then it was only for long enough to form a yes or no answer. kid was going through life on autopilot in the real world, while living virtually.

it is scary, disconnecting from technology is tough for young people, i am looking at three others with at least three devices in use right now in the cabin where we are 'roughing it'. no tv, but there is wifi
