Drama ‘Just Nasty’: Rachel McAdams Draws Criticism For Body Hair In Unretouched Photos

By Amanda Harding - The Daily Wire

Fans of Hollywood A-lister Rachel McAdams were a bit taken aback by images from her photoshoot published Tuesday.

The 44-year-old actress posed for Bustle while promoting her new movie, “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,” which is based on the classic Judy Blume novel of the same name. McAdams appeared in the images with her armpit hair exposed, prompting a big reaction on social media.

In the interview, the “Mean Girls” star discussed the importance of showcasing her real body, which in this case included her instructing photo editors not to alter her photos. She compared it to a photo shoot she did in 2017 which included her breast pump.

“I love that juxtaposition of beauty, glam, fantasy, and then truth,” she told Bustle about the previous photo shoot, which was taken when she was six months postpartum and still breastfeeding.

“With this shoot, I’m wearing latex underwear,” she said of the latest photo series. “But I’ve had two children. This is my body, and I think that’s so important to reflect back out to the world,” McAdams said. “It’s OK to look your best and work at it and be healthy, but that’s different for everyone.”

In one image, McAdams shows off her armpit hair while reclining on a red couch. She shows it again while wearing a slinky white gown and holding one hand behind her back.

“Dear Lord…she has more pit hair than me. Not sure who exactly really wants pit hair. It’s kinda worthless,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“That’s just nasty,” another person replied.

The actress further discussed shaving in a video posted to Bustle’s YouTube page.

“Well, I’m going to give you the advice my — your mother — gave me,” she said, addressing her teenage self. “‘Once you start, you can never stop,’ and I remember rolling my eyes about that, and thinking, ‘Ugh, that’s not the fun answer,’ but it’s so true.”

“Life is long once, shaving is intense, but if you’re gonna go ahead with it anyway, watch the ankle bones, the shins,” McAdams said. “You’re gonna go to Bible camp and think it’s okay to shave without shaving cream, and it’s gonna be terrible. Always have shaving cream, and then if you want to stop shaving again one day, that’s okay, too.”

Exactly. If you're attracted to her, it's not a deal breaker.

I am attracted to her, but I trim my armpit hair, so she can too.
