Didn't realize when I turned it on it was Shamalamabingbong, but it was good. I thought it was a foreign film the whole time until the credits ran and I saw his name Cool premise for sure

    Dune (2021)

Considering the original is one of my favorites, I had high hopes. Especially considering the talents in this one.....
    ...I wasn't impressed.

I don't think I'd spend the money for iMax. There wasn't anything that I would consider "visually stunning".

    Dune (2021)

I'll reserve judgment until I see the second part.

I think he's pushing hard for pt2, leaving it open like that.

In my opinion, just like foundation, something like Dune is better with a mini series so you can bring out the different characters and cultures, etc.

To me, thus far, Dune-2021 is a lot like Lynch's Dune-1984, except it's less stylized and it's a little longer, making the second film necessary. Both of them are probably changing shit from the book, but in order to determine what, I'll have to dig out the book and reread it. There's a lot of people that are down on Dune-84 and I'm not sure why. It may be my inner child speaking (I was about 9 years old when it came out), but I think it's a pretty good adaptation given the technology available at the time.

I enjoyed the 84 rendition as well. Sting and Kyle MacLachlan... I can remember scenes today and it was decades ago.

I can't remember much about the book, either, except the fact that it was a great read.
