First time I ever got stung was when I was around 10 or 11...got stung by a hornet right on my face. That was some serious pain that I had never felt before like that in my life. Got me right above my upper lip.
Then it was another 15 years or so before I got stung again. This time it was by yellow jackets...got me twice on the hand while I was taking down some curtains for my mother. They must have been in the window behind the curtains.
And I've been lucky since then.
Getting stung by bugs was a moot point for me growing up. If I went more than 3 months without breaking a bone, it was happy times

even pictures of those nasty flying bugs creep me out.....maybe my irrational fear has kept me safe all these years?

My friend johnny got stung in his throat, and I mean IN HIS FUCKING THROAT.
He put his pop can down and a wasp crawled into the straw of it.
Needless to say, he was rushed to the hospital

We used to have two lilac bushes surrounding our front step...one year our whole family came back from holidays and we were on the front step waiting for Dad to open the door.
One of those large, neon green caterpillars descended down onto my shoulder and got stuck in the neck of my tshirt....
I was shrieking and flailing and running around our front yard like a banshee on speed
I still remember the sound of my sister and brother laughing and the sensation of large sticky legs crawling on the back of my neck(5 years therapy for that incident)
Sounds dumb but this works.Insects and birds sense vibrations in the air.When a wasp or bee gets close to me I fan the air quickly and gently in their direction and they always take off.No spazzy movements though, controlled big sweeps.Make sure it's by one of the ones that can sting multiple times
I read where they think it's a bigger predator flying near them...
I can sympathize....I have an irrational fear of moths....I hate them

If that happened to me I would find every hive, nest, meeting place for wasps...and BURN THEM DOWN
