My dad, when drive-in theatres in the 50's were introduced, used to weld the framing for the screen and got hazard pay for working so high up...without any safety equipment, of course...this was the 50's.
He said he hated doing it because of the wind gusts. Can't imagine how windy it must be for those guys.
