The long abandoned Russian space shuttle program
fascinating, really, if you think about it. What they achieved in spite of their ridiculously inefficient economy...btw, the other one they built and even took for an unmanned test flight is displayed in a museum in southern germany now. I'm gonna take the kids once they're a bit older.

they could try and recoup some of that money by getting sponsors, you know, like having the rocket drag a huge ad banner behind it or something.
I read a story the other day where Pizza Hut was on a banner on the moon or something...
