It was weirdly slick out there this morning going to Superstore.

Ffs we haven't had snow for one days...and our roads are still perma-white.

Sunday night over 200 accidents again within an eight hour span. People here need to speak up and quit accepting this is just part of winter.

As you say Lance we never got snow days and used to get some pretty intense snowfalls when I was a kid. Difference being, the city managed it when it happened.

About the only time we had school canceled was due to an ice storm, when the roads basically just became too dangerous to be out on. I remember storms with 3 feet of snow as a kid and we still had to go to school. Same when it was -30° (-34C)...we went to school.

Yep we walked to junior high school and my buddy across the street went out with wet hair under his toque one day...parts of it broke off, I shit you not. We walked everywhere when it was -30 and worse.

Same here, we both grew up the same way. For middle school we had to walk because we lived too close to take the bus (about 3/4 of a mile) and no matter what the temp was, we had to go to school and we walked there every day.

We're getting the tail end of the storm that buried my sister's place. 10-15 cms today and snow all weekend.

Our best day in the past two weeks was yesterday when the temperature soared to -18.

    another weekend indoors

On Friday it was 60° (16C) and sunny. Then on Saturday and Sunday it was cold-ish at about 30° (-1C) and it snowed both days with an icy wind that made it feel colder than what it was. And then this morning it's 9° (-13C) and snowing and windy again.

I feel your pain, I have a couple inches out on the driveway and I don't feel like running the snowblower. It's supposed to be back above freezing on Wed, I think I'll go back to binge watching Game of Thrones.

I have a kind neighbor who has a snowblower. You don't see them too much in the city. We're getting threatened again about parking on the streets (snow routes) and the fine for not clearing your walks starts at 250 dollars this season. They have the gall to put this on a commercial after no one can drive throughout the city and we have another 200 accident snowfall this past weekend.

Last year neighbor with the snowblower did most of our back alley. Drifts were over three feet in places and this heroic dude was dressed up in about 15 layers head to toe, enabling most of us to get out of our garages.

I should have taken a picture and sent to City Hall with the caption - this guy gets 15% of my city tax bill

I was teasing you about my little dusting of snow compared to your 80 feet.

My snowblower is just a little rubber bladed thing, it's good for 6 inches at most. My neighbor has a big beast, I'm always thankful to him when we get a big storm. He usually does all my walks (corner lot so more sidewalk) I will spend a couple hours beating my little blower through the drifts just so I don't have to pick up the shovel. Getting too old and too many years of smoking, I get winded pretty quick shoveling.
