I used to deal with it every winter when I lived in Vermont (the cold temps), but that kind of cold is abnormal for here, especially the wind chill getting that low. That is extremely dangerous to be out in.

We got almost a foot of snow overnight! It's a shit show. This is as much as we normally get in a whole year all at once and Vancouver spends less than basically any Canadian city on snow contracts/equipment because 99% of the time it's not worth owning the equipment I guess. I'm 1 block off a major road and haven't seen a plow all day down my street Turning into ice now since it's -10C.

Do you drip your faucets when you get a hard freeze?

I never even heard of that until I moved here, I dunno if it's because in Vermont they insulate the plumbing better or what, but ever since I moved to Colorado, they recommend doing that every time it gets really cold. So we did do that last night.

I can kinda see not insulating the pipes well in the south, but in a place like Colorado where it gets cold every winter, granted, rarely it gets as cold as it is now, but it still gets cold, that they would insulate the plumbing like they would in any northern winter state.

I don't think I've ever seen temps go below 15°F in my 30+ years here.

"As several states in the Midwest hunker down for historically low wind chills, that got us thinking — What was the coldest temperature ever recorded in Georgia? According to The Weather Channel, the coldest temperature was 17 degrees below zero. The coldest temperature ever was recorded Jan. 27, 1940, reported in the city of Chatsworth, in Murray County, Ga."
That's up at the GA-Tennessee border. No where near me.
