A teacher has been charged with rape after she was accused of having a sex with one of her students for more than a year and even moving him into her home.
April Wade was arrested after a 17-year-old student told police he had a relationship with the language teacher.
The 34-year-old first set eyes on the student when he was assigned to her class at Sheffield High School in Memphis, Tennessee, where she taught Spanish.
Wade's arrest stunned school district officials as the school was involved in another sex scandal earlier this year.
The school's principal Russell Heaston was removed from his post after a sex video that featured him and a former male student went viral.
The video surfaced after a former student claimed he was involved in a sexual relationship with the married church deacon and highly respected educator.
The relationship was said to have taken place when Heaston was principal at a middle school.
Heaston has not been charged with any offence.
But Wade was booked into jail and charged with statutory rape.
She was released after posting $5,000 bail and is due to appear in court later this week.
A spokesman for the Memphis School District said alleged sexual relationship involving Wade and a student took place away from school.
Wade is still employed as a teacher and the district will wait until the investigation is completed before deciding on what action to take regarding her future.
