Habitat For Humanity.
Habitat For Humanity is one of those things most people can get behind. Except, apparently, John McCain.
He has put forth an amendment to a bill that would strip HFH of one of it's most vital sources of funding.

Habitat is a fine organization and after researching McCain's amendment (which has no co-sponsors BTW) it seems a little ridiculous to strip those funds from HfH. The text of the amendment to the bill (straight from the congressional record):

It's only $17 million which goes to a very worthy organization. The federal government right now spends nearly $7 million per minute right now. I think they can spare 2-1/2 minutes worth of Federal spending to go to HfH.
I used to volunteer for Habitat. I'll sign it.
It's not like anyone is getting something for nothing as in other government programs. These people pay for their housing and have to agree to sweat equity for other houses.
...That must be it, our socialist aimed government only supports slackers.
