Asian Pears
I've been told both way about the Debit/credit card. Some say to use it as credit, and some as debit. Either way, the hold wouldn't normally be a problem, except for the fact that the holds in this case were for 3 days (over the weekend) and my wife couldn't get to the bank to transfer funds into the account. I normally only keep $1000 in this account, as it is for my traveling expenses (food, fuel, beer, etc).
The 5 fill ups were all over $50 so, with my other expenses during that time, the holds caused me to have to use a different card for my food and fuel for a day. I had thought Texas passed a law about the holds, limiting the amount and time that could be held. Guess I was wrong.
Whenever I have used my debit card at a 'pay at the pump' gas station, I have never had it authorize for more than $1, there has never been any hold on funds in my account.
Oh, and for clarification, I don't normally use a true "credit" card. I use my bank issued credit/debit card.
See, and that's the thing. It used to be that way here, but over the last year or two, I've noticed some places put larger holds on the card and sometimes the hold doesn't clear right away. And it seems to be random as to which stations do it. The closest station to me, which I use all the time, only does it on holidays. They ought to at least put a sign on the pump if they are going to do that. Guess I'll have to start paying inside again.

That was a disturbing mental image, thanks.
