How much liability do you guys buy?

I've had a lot of clients come from the US who are shocked to hear that most people in BC buy $2 million of third party liability (and that the minimum you may buy is $200k). Buuuut there are plenty of claims over the $1milllion mark these days, and if anything I'd except Americans to know that?

I'll ask my Mrs. when she comes back from work what's her experience (She does what GF does but is at Level 2). She recommends at minimum 2 Mil as well. I think it's something like $50 extra so I think it's kinda worth it since you're probably on the hook for a thousand dollars + anyway...

I think Canadians on the whole are a more cautious bunch, anyway.

Ya I understand the trends up here well now, I'm just interested to see with the US forum members buy. My experience is that the answer is, not much. Ironic because from what I understand claims down there go off and start at $10 million

People say to me "well I have no money so they can sue me." Umm... they will, and they'll garnish your wages for the rest of your life if they want.

I don't think they even offer that much coverage down here...I'm pretty close to maxed out on my coverages and it doesn't even come close to $1 million
