Here's another one, especially in horror flicks: How can someone be trying to escape from the killer, they get a decent head start, run out at night in the dark into the woods, and somehow the killer always knows exactly where the person went and tracks them down faster than a police search party with bloodhounds?
It wouldn't be much of a horror movie if they got away.

Acres and acres of woods, but the still living people always stumble on the dead bodies of their friends
and the killer always has time to hang them up, dress them up, or just generally violate the corpse in some heinous way in order to derive more terror from the living viewers
You bring up a good point...going back to the rule where the victim inevitably stumbles when running away, the killer NEVER trips and falls.
