Basically, under this law if you buy a product that fails just after warranty expire, you can be covered by this law.

    e.g.

Buy a TV for $1,000 and get a 12 month warranty.

TV fails after 18 months, this law basically says the product at that price would be expected to last longer than that so therefore the ACL covers it.

MAnufacturers don't like it but it is enforceable.
Same in Europe, and in many places now.
More expensive items are expected to last longer.
2 year guarantee is stat on everything now, not a single year.
Companies are slowly catching up, makes applecare laughable, as it should be utterly by default now.
Very sneaky of them with their 'battery replacement program' as there should be zero charge within the 2 years, but magically they managed to lower to cost from 75 to 25 and everyone hails them as godlike.
    Very smart marketing.

Utterly underhanded, but you have to see the genius in their evil campaign to gouge as much money for as little effort, and provision as possible.
