I took home ec in hs. I had moved to as very small town after my sophomore year, and they didn't have many elective classes. Also took typing, got back in band and athletics in the same school, along with wood shop (kind of a waste since I grew up working with my carpenter dad.

Back in my day (before colour), only girls could take home economics and typing. All boys had to take woodwork, metalwork and technical drawing. Fat lot of good those did me but it would be nice to be a better cook and also comptetent at touch typing.

Now not taught at all.

Pity that as in this day of a genderless society, all the "people" (if I'm still allowed to use that term) could be at a greater advantage for life ahead.

Aye money management including lessons on what APR means, what a phone is, how it is structured, and what it actually costs you, along with PCP for cars and mortgages/rental contracts would make for a bloody good series of essential life skills.
Food education, preparing meals, cooking for cheap would be a good second class each day.

Algebra and trigonometry are far more helpful to the average person
