That's back when the NBA was at its best, back in the 80's. Bird was and always be my all-time favorite player...I grew up in New England, you grew up loving the Celtics.

I believe it was the Hall of Fame coach Pat Riley that said if he had to pick someone to take the last shot to win a game, he'd take Jordan. If he had to pick one person to take a shot to save his life, he'd pick Bird.

That's not pizza, we wouldn't even consider it flatbread up here.

    Did you travel there?

I have a mini-story to share. I always dream about traveling to places and then noticed a weird trend. I would start to look at a country online and then within 30 days, some sort of tragedy would strike the place I was interested in.

    Turkey - airport bombing
    Greece- fires
    Hawaii - volcano blows
    Mexico - deaths and kidnappings
    Venice - flooding
anywhere in America - pick your disaster or crime spree

Yeah, I went there about 25 years ago, maybe a little longer. It's when I had a buddy I went to high school with was stationed in Europe in the Air Force. He lived off base so I stayed at his place, all I had to come up with was airfare and spending money. The first trip I went over we took the train around to several countries and one of our stops was Rome for about 3 days. I was so excited to try "real" pizza...and it was fucking awful.

I heard the same story from a friend who's family came from one of Italy's beautiful mountain areas. He goes back looking forward to legit Italian home cooked meals, which he got, and then says most of it tasted like ass and was all straight carbs and olive oil He described this stuffed pasta dish his Aunt created and said he had troubles getting more than three bites in his mouth because of the mystery meat within and the overall taste of 'wallpaper pasta' as he called it.

The only place I was in Europe where the food actually lived up to the hype was when we were in Paris...the breads and pastries and all that kind of stuff, to fucking die for

Everything else tasted like you would imagine the liquid that pools up in the bottom of a dumpster from the garbage and rain water tastes like

Bavarians actually have some decent food. Particularly if you like heavy and hearty

Unfortunately Germany was one of the places I really wanted to visit, but we didn't have time for it. We went through it on the train, and even changed trains in Cologne, but the stop was only for about an hour, no time to really go out and do anything.

Someone made similar comments about British food to me They heard the stereotype that everything was boiled or battered and I guess most places they went to cooked items in a similar way. I'm not sure how true that is and certainly can't look down my nose at them because I don't eat fabulously healthy cuisine daily.
