Yeah, he was released. Personally, I think that's a bunch of shit. He coached them to two world series wins. Good luck getting back to that without him.
Well, that Rays/Rangers game was a real nail biter
With the kinda roll the Rays are on, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they go all the way this year
They certainly are riding a high right now.
That was painful! Before the game, sports stations down here were talking about how much trouble the Rangers have had with left handed pitchers that they've never seen before. Evidently, Joe Maddon read the same report. The Rays weren't able to set up their pitching rotation because they had to win games right up until the end. Starting Moore turned out to be genius.
And like I said above, the Rays are on a helluva roll right now, it's right up with the kinda roll the Rockies were on in 2007 when it got them all the way to the World Series. I really think the Rangers are just being hit with a buzz saw that is going full speed right now.
The Rangers weren't exactly limping into the playoffs. They actually had a better September than the Rays. The went 19-6 and finished with a 6 game winning streak, to the Rays 17-10 and a 5 game winning streak. They were outplayed in every aspect of the game, and made a couple of base running errors. What the hell was Josh Hamilton doing bunting!?
What they did before the playoffs is irrelevant. What's relevant is how they're playing now, and if last night was any indicator, they could use emergency services to pump some life back into them right now.
Charge the defibrillator... clear!
Uh oh.
Nice goin', Roy.
