Joe Madden is extremely huge for the Cubs after 3 no-name losers at the helm. Miguel Montero and Jason Hammel are great acquisitions, and the young players are seriously looking perfectly positioned.
They are extremely young.. youngest team? But I really think it's coming together. Best prospect in years anyway...

Joe Maddon's a pretty good manager. I had Montero in my fantasy lineup before. He's a decent catcher. He can be a bit inconsistent at the plate but he had good numbers last year. I wouldn't call Hammel great, he's a good pitcher, but he's not Kershaw. But then again, who is? Not a bad addition to your rotation. We'll see how it works out for you guys.

You guys are always better at the stats and specifics than me, I never had the knack for it. My oldest brother can cite players and stats like crazy.

Here's what you really need to know: stats are great in-season, but they're no indicator of how a player is going to perform from one season to the next. So you can't really look at a player's numbers from last year and say he's going to be fantastic or be absolutely shit this season. You just have to wait and see. As far as numbers from previous seasons go, they're just a conversation piece... but if you're a rational human being, you know they really don't mean squat.

I know Joe Madden thinks Lester is still hitting his stride. By all accounts, his addition relieves pressure on the other starters and adds to their confidence. The back end is solid. I consider it an organizational move as much as a player signing.
