Can't believe I missed this one: Blue Jays acquire SS Troy Tulowitzki and RHP LaTroy Hawkins from Colorado for SS Jose Reyes and RHPs Miguel Castro, Jeff Hoffman and Jesus Tinoco.

I didn't see the trade before. Jose Reyes is no slouch but they were right to get the extras for Tulowitzki. Honestly, I wouldn't be happy either, but what can you do?

Tulo had become a whiner the longer he was here, even though in his rookie season they went to the World Series and then back to the playoffs a couple of years later, he has been whining about the losing that has happened the last 3 or 4 years which has seen the Rox come close to losing 100 games each year. He's a phenomenal fielder and the best hitting SS in the game....when he's healthy, but that's the rub, dude is always hurt, with some of the years he's been here missing significant portions of the seasons.
I dunno, the trade looks dumb and like a salary dump to me. Although their salaries are comparable right now, Tulo is owed a lot more long term. And most of the guys on local sports radio think the Rox are just gonna flip Reyes now.
The weirdest thing about the trade is that the Blue Jays needed pitching badly. They're not hurting for hitting, they're the highest scoring team in the league. They got a reliever in the deal, but he's nothing to write home about. The salary dump is really the only thing that makes any sense.
I've seen some speculation about Reyes going back to the Mets, but I seriously doubt it.
