Well, it was a nice story while it lasted, but looks like the Avs aren't gonna go very far. Local sports radio here is reporting that Matt Duchene's leg injury will keep him out for 4 weeks.
Still reason to be positive. If the playoffs started now you'd face the Hawks. Toews got smoked the other night and could be out a while too (although he's listed as day-to-day) and Kane is on IR. The season still goes another two weeks, so if the Avs can beat the Hawks, he could be back for the second round. This might also set the stage for Mckinnon to step up another level and cement his Calder win too.
That's definitely a series I'd love to see. If they play one another, I'll probably cheer for whoever comes out of that in the West.

I remember the Canucks losing in '94 vaguely. I drank shots of apple juice out of a shot glass with the men at the party who were drinking hard after the game
Damn kids. I was 18 in '93 and in 94, I remember the Mark Messier led New York Rangers winning the Cup in 7 over the Trevor Linden led Canucks. It was a fantastic series. Made Pavel Bure and Mike Richter household names. Messier was determined to win that Cup for NY... NY hadn't won a Cup since 1940.
