I'm in the same boat, they're full of Canadians, never won a cup, so I've got to cheer for them. If I gambled on hockey I'd bet Bruins in 6 though. Obviously they've got experience, goaltending, I think they're a bit deeper on offence, and the Refs have put their whistles away so the Bruins are just going to dog them like they did to us in 2011

Blues fans are nuts though, I didn't appreciate how crazy they were.

They are. Have you ever heard my (deceased) brother's story about a blues fan's trip to the old Chicago Stadium?

I guess I'm happy the Blues won. They had some former Flyers on their team. Or one. Brayden Schenn.

My brother was a UAW guy, and moved as the plants closed. His was in St Louis at the time, and a guy he worked with was all rowdy one day, talking about his upcoming trip to Chicago for a Blues/Blackhawks game. This was at the old Chicago Stadium, which was a loud aggressive venue in a shitty neighborhood. My brother calmly asked where they were sitting. "3rd Balcony". Bro got wide eyed. "Listen, all kidding aside, do NOT go into the third balcony at that stadium and start shit. It will not be pretty". He responded "Fuck those Blackhawk fans". My brother just shrugged. Those of us who grew up in that stadium knew the third balcony of that stadium was the cheap seats, the drunk seats, the fight seats. It was a different era. One night I rode in a van full of guys, blazing the whole way in, rolling out like cheech and chong, and the beer vendors would serve us double and triple-fisted. Insane by today's standards. And fights, always fights...

So the dude returns to St Louis. He was an asshole in the 3rd balcony of the Chicago stadium and paid the price. Bloodied, bruised, and ego in check. My brother just shook his head and laughed. "I tried to tell you..."

Plus an epic first win for that city. Amazing.

    What a dummy, that's hilarious.

I wish hockey still had some of that grit and grassroots culture in the fans. It's a god damn library here at Rogers Arena when the Nucks play.... I went to a game in Edmonton (rougher town than Van) in their old stadium a few years back. It was 10x more lively than what we get. No fights, but still roudy.

Well that was a helluva series. Congrats to the Blues, last place in January, winning the cup with a rookie, a team with almost entirely first time cup champs. Fun to watch.

Canucks rookie Elias Pettersson won the Calder. First time we've had a winner since 1992. So excited to have this kid on our team. He even mentioned Jason Botchford who was a great member of our media that recently passed away far too young. Class act.

Nucks drafted a Russian kid with their 10th overall pick. On one hand, hockey guys are happy because they feel he was underrated. On the other... we've already had a Russian kid leave our organization in the past couple years, it's nothing new, they just like playing in the KHL, the money is still decent, they don't seem to acclimatize to North America as well as other Europeans. I'm not thrilled to see us draft Russians unless they're total superstars.

How's the Flyer's pick? Is he any good?
