We used to build really shaky take-off ramps in the park behind out house and neighborhood kids would actually volunteer to lay down under us as we jumped over them.Evel Knievel was big back then, so number of buses jumped would become number of kids.
i don't think the words health and safety meant anything to kids
I had a rectangular toy box lid made of wood...maybe 16 inches wide and 36 inches long.That was our ramp and we put it on stacked 2x4's, odd pieces of wood...flat rocks
we never nailed anything together

A mother came running across the park with a pot of boiling water, intending to pour it down the pole to ease the kid's tongue off the metal.
