Such a stupid idea. Inflation is already bad enough and making minimum wage 20/hour will only make it worse. Prices of services and products will jump dramatically and it'll only make things worse. I wish we could shoot stupid people.
The problem is, even at minimum wage, with bare necessities, people can't survive.
Do the math. It's impossible to survive with one job on minimum wage.
Now, I understand raising minimum wage is going to actually cost people their jobs, but that is the problem in the first place. There aren't enough jobs. Growing up I was working 2 jobs, and sometimes 3, but now it's impossible to even find one in certain areas.
I remember the struggling years...
3 jobs (I cleaned a dentist and a doctor's office and I was a College Teacher's assistant...all to afford only 1/2 of my tuition, books and gas money) The parents paid the other 1/2. I'd Teach Assist in the day, take College classes in the afternoon/evening, then clean the offices at midnight. I didn't get finished until 3am...then I'd wake up at 9am and start all over again.
Now, I work my full time job, and work O/T whenever possible, where my wife is a part time car insurance salesperson, noon hour supervision for an elementary school and teaches piano to a couple of kids. You do what you must...but we're actually seeing our debt whittled down to nearly zero (if you don't include the house).

Did any of you actually read his petition? It sounds like the manifesto of some lifetime loser who is just looking for something to blame his pitiful existence on
Who are these idiots who think minimum wage is supposed to support a person? Minimum wage and minimum wage jobs are not careers.
oh yeah
That's funny, and I'm mostly with lance... this guy is a weenie
But what is minimum wage in most states? I think living above poverty line means needing something like $17 an hour which makes employers of non or semi- skilled labor cringe obviously... Not sure we can afford to get there, but it's something to keep in mind.
