Ok, eight minutes in and a questionalbe call against David Luiz means a penalty kick is awarded to QPR, which they convert. Cech gets some fingers on it and deflects it to the top corner of the net, but couldn't quite clear it, great effort though.
Half hour in and Jose Bosingwa is given a very, very sketchy red card, which I would be surprised if Chelsea do not challenge and even more surprised if he has to serve a three game suspension. Chelsea send out Sturridge to bring in Ivanovic to keep the defense strong.
Not ten minutes later and Drogba is also red carded...the game isn't even half over and Chelsea are down to nine men. In stoppage time at the half, Mata gets injured and is immediately replaced by Anelka...
Second half starts with Chelsea down two men and having only one substitution to make. And yet, they totally outplay QPR for the rest of the game. But, the ref keep dropping yellow cards on them...to the point that the only original member of the starting eleven to finish the game still in the match but not carded is Petr Cech. And even one of Chelsea's subs is carded. Several fights almost break out.
Cech is called on to play half goal keep/half defender, often coming out of the box to make saves...he reminded me of Shay Given at Man City a year and a half ago...always coming far out to stop an incoming attack. But, Shay did so out of frustration owing to the pathetic support his defenders were giving him, Cech was pressed into the role out of necessity.
Crazy match...but watching Chelsea stack up undeserved cards and still outplay a team that is two men up on them was incredible.
