What the fuck happened... how could Brazil have been destroyed that bad? Sure they were down two of their best players but that's no excuse. Pretty funny really.

Summary: It's expected that the players of this Brazilian national team will never play for Brazil again, and some of them might want to go into hiding in different countries.

The new Brazilian flag. One of the many pics making the rounds online, pulled from twitter.

Just reading on the historical significance of what happened yesterday....it's the first competitive match that Brazil has lost on home soil since 1975. Brazil hasn't let up more than 5 goals in an ENTIRE World Cup since 1998 and they let that many in during an 18 minute stretch in the first half yesterday. And it's the first time that Brazil has let up 7 or more goals in a match of any kind in 80 years.
well, that was...unexpected. I wonder if any crazy person bet on the result or at least the spread? They must have made millions.
I suppose the most important thing for the german team now is to remember that they weren't THAT good, but rather that Brazil were THAT bad. No matter if we're facing Argentina or the dutch it will be a completely different game. Neither of them will implode like a soufflé if they concede an early goal.
Anyway, I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real.
On another note, I thought the brazilian players were hugely gracious in their defeat. None of them went looking for excuses, there were no brutal gratuitous fouls. The crowd booing Fred all the way was nasty though.

Did you ever read about Barbosa, the goalkeeper who conceded the decisive goal against Uruguay in the 1950 world cup? He's been a pariah until his death. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moacir_Barbosa_Nascimento
And they merely went down 1-2 back then...I suppose the only good thing to come from this defeat is that they could take a page out of the german team's book. After the dismal performances at the EURO 2000 and 2004, the football community refused to be deceived by the finals appearance at the 2002 world cup and turned the entire football system upside down. Maybe Brazil should do the same and implement more professional structures throughout. They have so much potential...
Hehe, sorry, I had polenta for dinner, that makes for some nasty gas sometimes.
seriously though, I'm glad to see you folks are still around and the place is up and running again. I checked in a few weeks ago and a few months before that and had trouble even loading the site...
Anyway, how are you guys?
It's Argentina vs Germany in the World Cup Final, and Brazil vs the Netherlands in the third place match.
Yeah, that's absolutely brutal to do that to someone. I'm wondering what's worse, to be blacklisted for life like that by your home country or to be killed for a mistake in a game like the Colombians did to Andres Escobar in '94.
Anyway, I'm good. Thanks for asking. How about you?
