Stopped at Lowes for just a quick trip to pick up some fence pickets....get halfway thru the self checkout and it freezes. Person watching self-checkout asks if it froze up. Tell her yes and she states the whole system is locked up, they're calling tech support now. I say, so we can't buy these? She says nope, but give us about 30 minutes and we may be up and running again.

I was at Walmart a few months back and I have no idea why but all of their self checkout machines went down and had to be rebooted. I noticed that their base OS was Windows XP on those machines. It still makes me laugh knowing that I could hack the shit out of Walmart's self checkout machines.

I've had cash registers crash when I was working as a cashier. Sometimes they can save it, sometimes you have to start over. The ones that freak people out is when it crashed during the payment process. "I can have a manager check, but it should only go through once."
