I got a bit teary watching that

i can relate to that! well the heartache at least

county championships high jump finals, down to me and another boy at maximum height (i forget the actual measurements, it was over 15yrs ago now!) he failed it, i had completed it many times in training and other events, i lined up, took my run up and as i planted my left foot to set up for the jump, POP!! ended up in a crumpled heap on the floor in agony!

I was also supposed to compete in the 100m hurdles later that afternoon, an event I was expected to finish in the top 3, but ended up leaving the stadium on crutches, ankle to thigh heavily bandaged. scans the next day revealed I had partially torn my ACL and made a mess of the cartilage in my knee.

I never returned to Athletics after that.
