I joined AS in July of 2006....I am pretty sure it was a search for porn that brought me there. It was one of the first forums I ever came across on my trips around the interwebz and it was the only one I signed up at. I mostly lurked for quite awhile and said the occasional thanks in the NSFW areas (the rest of the forum seemed to be a scary place). Then I decided I wanted to start to contribute to the porn section and I wanted to make sure I did it right. I didn't know who to ask or what to do, so I took a chance and PM'ed Ohiojoe as he was a big contributor to that area back then. He responded almost right away and he was so nice to me, a n00b, and was patient and helpful with all my questions. That kindness from someone that didn't no me at all convinced me to explore the rest of the forum and I slowly made my way into the games section and then up to GenChat and the rest, as they say, is history.
I will never forget the good times I had there and some of the people I met there I would consider closer than I do most of my family. It was a good 4-1/2 years and 200K+ posts I had there and I will never forget it.

AS was a great place. As most of us, I got there cuz of porn. Stayed for the people and the other, much much better stuff, than porn.
Without AS, we would not all be here having a laugh and chit chatting. Sharing opinions, views and news from all around the world. I have so much good to say and very little negative from my AS times. Something went wrong in the last months of it, but it should not take away the years of such good stuff it had to offer. It is just usually so that all the negative things feel stronger than the good, but I would want it to be the other way around. That is why it has bother med how some have bashed AS, even tho Im sure it gave them so much more good than bad. Quick to judge... but should not forget it is the force behind us all being here now together.
I don't remember how I came to be on AS really, but I did like the fact that it was a British forum, as my heritage is there, and it had also had non-Brits on it too. I kinda participated, then stopped - intimidated by the feeling that I was the only guy at the party who knew no one. Then my worklife changed.
I was thrust into working at home, where my previous job was a tech support number for many years, I was now a desk jockey, doing Asset stuff. Add to that my physical office where I shared a space with some Government workers was closing down, they said I could make the commute into the big city (1 hour away) and they'd give me a desk, but sorry it'd be in a closet! Or they'd buy me a desk, fax machine and provide the internet at home for me.
I felt a little lost because some parts of the job, once learned were boooooooring and tedius. So, to relieve the tedium I began to search on the internet. And then re-found AS. AS became my reward after I'd got a particularly hard job done. Or sometimes it'd be my 20 minute break.
I posted occasionally, but got really involved when a certain member had a problem with a girlfriend, and this was sometime late at night. It reminded me of an old situation of mine, so I answered back. Then he answered me...and lo and behold I found a connection with someone and he told me later it helped. And on it went, connecting with various members. I remember tearing up when Hal related some of what he went through with his nephew's early passing.
And, talking with Sexicans, ornery coots, babes and all points in between. Where else do you get such a conglomeration of different people posting just for the fun of it?
And, since I'm 42, I've been around this block a time or two...many experiences I've shared with the AS crowd. I hope the benefits of my screw-ups and the things I did right helped someone when I related them!

Started posting in the games lounge mostly, seemed like an easy way to get my post count up and meet some folks. Then, i ventured into the world of posting nsfw stuff myself, first few threads were hotlinked....... and they worked
Mugzy was actually the person that really made me feel part of the site when he asked me to join team Z......... and then Mrs Meth kinda took me under her wing and introduced me to a number of people who i still consider friends (Jeezus, ScottyB etc).
Anyway, AS was a big part of my online life for 4/5 years and i loved all the times i had there and all the friends i met there........... things changed a bit near the end but that's life, i bear no grudgesI still love dm for the fact that he helped introduce me to Lance and Jay, who although ive never met them in real life face to face, i consider to be real friends

I joined AS sometime in 06 I believe. I was already posting on other forums a bit and looking for bigger and better things. AS was huge in comparison at the time and thought I hit the mother load. I immediately jumped in trying to carve a spot for myself. In doing so I met some people who helped me find my was on AS, Porky, Harp and a few others quickly set me straight on what the place was about and promptly joined Team PC. I mostly was their to post and grab pron but after the pron apocalypse I found myself still connected thought team PC and other members and eventually became a basement regular. Thats were I met Lance, and Goof and how this place came about. We had some great times in that basement and I hope to carry that spirit to this place.
Nah, they're undergoing some kind of upgrade/revamp. It was only supposed to take a few hours, but it's been way past 24 at this point. There's a message there that says they're stil working on it. I'm sure they'll be back up soon.
Back up at the moment, took longer than expected.
How many people remember the porn that brought them to AS? For me it was the day after some red carpet awards show. I had heard on the radio that there were delicious see thru pics of Jessica Alba. Oh did AS deliver.
