Back in the 80s, they would broadcast it live then show a repeat/summary in the evening for people who had to work or were asleep during the live broadcast.

Tried to watch some of it over here. The local cable didn't show the opening ceremonies, and all they are showing now is just when Malay teams are up (badminton pairs was last I saw)
Watched some men's gymnastics this morning... some of the crap they do defies gravity
And a bit of biking. Good stuff
