Can you imagine the uproar if a white president created a "White-American Education Office"?

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is creating a new office to bolster education of African-American students.

The White House says the office will coordinate the work of communities and federal agencies to ensure that African-American youngsters are better prepared for high school, college and career.

Obama is announcing his election-year initiative Wednesday night in a speech to the civil rights group the National Urban League as he seeks to rally black voters. Aides say his executive order, to be signed Thursday, will set a goal of producing "a more effective continuum" of programs for African-American students.

There are kids of all colours that need extra help. To single out one, IMHO, doesn't do anything except keep reiterating that they are different. We cannot on one hand say we are all the same and then say some need to be treated differently or special.

It would be better to have a special urban education office or something that deals with the problem and not make it specific to a race... unless it is then made acceptable for other races to also have a special education office.

We are over populated with idiots who breed additional idiots at a pace that's 2-3x faster than responsible, educated, tax paying citizens.

Not much we can do about that though.

I agree that the root of the problem is more often than not the parents - but to make an African-American education office doesn't really help the root problem either... all i'm trying to say is, it would be better to deal with it based on problem areas (urban , low income, etc) and not skin colour

But they have to make it about skin color. It's called divide and conquer and their plan is right on track.

I disagree. There is something we can do about it. Take Education out of the Federal Government's hands (other than say just a national standard) Quit paying non-productive people to have more and more babies.
No diploma? No vote, unless you join the Military.
On welfare? Pass a drug test.
Second (or third) generation of government handouts? Set time limits for ALL assistance to those who are not physically or mentally handicapped.
