Yeah, we sometimes start using it as early as April or May, depending on the weather, and pretty much need it into October sometimes. But not every day like in the summer when it's stupid hot.

I remember Belle talking about getting a propane heater one time and I asked about her furnace. She didn't have one

Then I found out that places like North Carolina not only didn't have furnaces, they didn't have basements.

Up here every house has a furnace and 99% have basements. The world is a varied and mysterious place sometimes.

I know guys who put in expensive AC units along with a new furnace here and it's such a waste when we only get about two really hot weeks per year on average

From what I remember about my grandparent's home in Florida, places where the water table is barely below ground, they don't build basements because of flooding problems, especially in states where it rains all the time on top of it.
