I'll let ya borrow my 6 string tobias bass, that'll break your hand but goodthat's my main practice/prep bass....for that very reason
Never played a 6 string bassPlayed bass in school, used my dad's old Fender Precision......... always preferred the guitar though

hehe...fuggin million guitarists around here, some pretty ridiculously good ones, too. one day at band practice when I was about 14, after we'd gone through 3 bass players, my drummer stood up and said ok guys, this is crazy - ONE OF YOU IS PLAYING BASS, I dont care who. but it was a good deal, because at the time I was feeling stagnant on guitar anyway, I learned every metallica song through justice, solos included, and it only made me feel entirely uncreative on guitar. so I wound up putting it away for a year or two and discovered that bass is its entirely own animal. you like *are* the weight and dynamics of the entire mix, its cool...so I very often take that into regard when writing lines these days - which is why I feel handicapped on a 4 string bass....so used to using the big .130 when I really need the song to be huge, a .100 dont cut it

Each to their own! I play guitar for me, i wanted to learn guitar for me. Have played a couple of gigs in a cover band on rhythm and lead vocals and was told that i'm a good singer........ but truth is i don't really care for it, i'm quite happy strumming on the acoustic and singing my lungs out at home! I'll never be Jimi..... but then i didn't pick up the guitar until i was about 16 or 17 and working full-time so didn't have as much time to learn and practice.
