Report: Fake cop with real guns demanded free meal at McDonald's
By Barbara Hijek - Sun Sentinel
Apparantly some folks will go to extreme lengths when they want it, need it and gotta have it.
We're talking about burgers.
Deputies say that after Joseph E. Pineda had placed his order through the drive thru speaker at a St. Petersburg McDonald's on Friday afternoon, Pineda told the employee that took his order he was a law enforcement officer and did not have his wallet -- and wanted his food free of charge, according to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
After pulling around to the window, the 33-year-old Pinellas Park man told the manager the same story, but this time Pineada added he had just come from a sting before flashing a badge and showing a gun to the manager, the release stated.
The staff at Mickey D's didn't think Pineda deserved a break that day: They called 911.
Responding deputies ordered Pineda, who was still inside his car and had pulled forward at the drive thru lane, to show his hands.
When Pineda ignored the command, deputies then challenged him once again - this time at gunpoint -- and arrested him, charging him with felony impersonating a police officer and a misdemeanor charge of improper exhibition of a firearm, according to records.
Inside Pineda's car deputies located two badges and a 455-caliber gun in the center console. Pineda reportedly also had a holster on his person.
