It is good to see them building something there...must have been beyond bizarre, living in that city for a number of years with the empty lots in the middle of downtown. The new buildings will help with the healing
I lived on Long Island for 10 years before moving to FL. Got a chance to go up the WTC. It was nice. Unfortunately from the observation deck you couldn't see straight down as you might think. There were railings that kept you away from another set of railing along the edge of the building. I believe a few floors down there was an observation area which you could get up close to the windows and look down. There was also some etchings on the windows which identified the buildings and surrounding area of the city. It was neat. I was about 10 or eleven at the time, glad I got to go up it.
I visited NYC in 2004 for a wedding, went to Ground Zero on a Friday night at like 3 AM. It was surreal. At the time there were still quite a few buildings and business that were boarded up and plywood on windows. I cried for the devastation and for the souls lost. They had a makeshift memorial and a list of names of the deceased. My wife never made it out of the car. She couldn't handle the scene.
Look what I found at my local RiteAid. His name is Joe and he is 6 years old.
So basically if the train car was on fire, I would be stuck in a metal flaming death trap. Yup.

As you can probably tell, I LOVE LOVE LOVE taking photos. Not necessarily of NYC because I hate this place with a passion, but what happens in my life. I just posted pics of NYC because people seem to be amazed. Im just amazed at how much crap they were able to fit on a 13mile long (20KM), 3.5mile (5.6KM) wide island that is know as Manhattan. As Hal told me in a PM, people here like to talk about their life experiences, I just do it in pictures. I hope you guys enjoy them, because I will be posting a shit ton.
