My next dog might just be a blue heeler.

They seem to be really good dogs. My boss had one, he was great. Kinda on the small-ish side though.

Very loyal dogs. They need a bit of exercise.

I've been around heelers many times and worked with them as well. At this stage, a smaller dog is a viable option. 40-30lbs is fine. I still draw the line at ankle biters though.

My second favorite dog ever was an Aussie, but honestly its just to hot here for one to be an inside/outside dog. Well, mostly outside.

If things go as normal though, I'll wind up with another heinz 57 mutt. Nothing wrong with that though

They're beautiful. My sister in law breeds aussies and mini aussies. Smart, fun dogs to live on the farm with her and I love seeing them when I visit, but I wouldn't get one as a city/suburb person. They need too much exercise and mental stimulation. My buddy is a lazy sod and got one in his apartment because he and his wife thought they were 'active' (they camp in the $3k tent on their 4Runner on the odd weekends, not what I'd call high activity)... poor dog chews through drywall because it's not getting what it needs and it has to be locked up when company comes over because it's too pent up. Sad as hell.

I've seen that too many times, E.g. friend of the family. He got a Blue heeler for the inner city and of course she acted out and ended up getting belted. The dog became a scared cringing, creature that no one wanted to be around.

He did this twice and finally came to his senses and got a fluffy little lap dog.

    Horses for courses.

I'm meeting my sister's new dog for the first time tomorrow. She's part German Shepherd and part Rottweiler, and she's a hellion that can rip apart cages from the inside and open doors.

I hope she takes to me quick. I really don't want to get bit.

My sister said the "puppy" wasn't feeling well. So she didn't bring her.

Bad luck. I was wanting you to find out one way or another.

Are you usually good with dogs?

Usually. I'm a dog guy. We had dogs when I was a little kid. Never had a cat. Mom wouldn't allow it, she hated cats. Anyway, some dogs will take to me easily and some will be a little more work. The one's that don't are usually scared of the chair, or aren't socialized enough. In that case, it's just a matter of how much time I can spend around them. There are only a few dogs that I've encountered that no matter what I did or how much time I spent with them, I couldn't get them to warm up to me.
