They can't take a banned weapon away if I own it before the law goes into affect. I'm sure they'll try to ban "Assault weapons" again and the MP5 falls under that category.

on a very serious note....deterrents do have their place when necessary. We can't arm every civilian and expect them to police non-policed areas...there has to be a better way to prevent these lunatics from getting access to weapons.
with realistic discussion on the matter, more people will choose to arm themselves than not. but if people around you talk about how horrible guns are and teach you that only criminals own guns (like the progressives do, until they gain some sense of importance, then they arm themselves while still insisting you be disarmed)...then it would seem you'd be less likely to think that is a safe way to keep yourself protected and defended.
