Why do people think they need to coin new buzzwords or phrases all the time?

If I see the phrase "baby bump" in a story one more time I'm going postal. She's fucking pregnant, just say that FFS

At work the expression going around is "ping me when you have the information". Not send the f-ing thing in the e-mail or phone me, which tells you how to expect the information, but "ping" me...it's office-speak for "sending it to you, but I have no clue as to the medium on how I'm going to do that, or I can't be bothered to tell you how to expect this info."

Our department wasn't cut back, with staff forced to work in other areas they hated, it was "right-sized" with staff "redeployed".

"Let's Touch Base about that...". Let's not and say we did. Maybe in baseball touching the base is cool, but nowhere else.

"At the end of the day"...this is just someone speaking for speaking's sake. "At the end of the day, we know less about the situation than before". Lob off that superfluous garbage at the beginning and just tell me the facts!

But if I were to see God in all his glory decending upon high and he said "dude, you're doing great", now that would be awesome! Or if I was on a spiritual retreat and was connecting with the life, universe and feeling a complete part of life itself.
