I was being sardonic and self-deprecating, but clearly there is no room provided for that nonsense. I will be sure be be as aggressively argumentative as the opposition going forward.
You'd prefer gloves off? Okay, we can do that.
I wanted to be a Monk, but I never got the chants.

I had just watched the story about the shoes. It was my version of sardonic humor, but I guess the actual horror of the story leaked in.
It's too bad you feel you have to become aggressively argumentative because a stat was provided. And gloves off too? Sounds like a threat.
There's already some pretty good shots taken at people in this thread (excuse the pun) and it seems there are no counterpoints allowed during the 'discussion'.
Not a problem, there never was or will be anything relating to an open discussion here on the subject. I won't attempt to relate a statistic on the subject again.
Please keep in mind that we see the same news stories as you do and the same statistics are provided. A truth is posted and an uncomfortable negative response was levied instantly.
If that particular statistic upset you to this degree, perhaps that's an indicator of the greater problem. As it is, I expected better from you.
As there is no room for nonsense, I'm out. I don't need to visit a place where I'm supposed to have friends, some for over 10 years, and become the target of a pissy threat. Life is hard enough.

We both misunderstood each other. You didn't like my attempt at humor and I didn't like your attempt to reflect it back to tragedy. For my part, I apologize. Nothing was at all intended to be threatening and I would hope you know I harbor no ill will. I do consider you a friend, and yes, sometimes friends say stupid shit.
This issue has been escalating on the board for a while. It has gotten rude on both sides. We are apparently better at porn than politics.

Hey mate, I just read this. You'll have your own interpretation, but some Americans can come across as completely callous and combative when it comes to connecting any sort of tragedy with gun restriction. I've come across the same here myself a few times.
It's based on a principled gloves-off, no holds barred fight for free will, individual responsibility and right to personal protection that seems to overpower any statistic - or (as far as many are concerned) logic.
There is a logic to their argument, but it comes from a mindset that is not really fathomable as a personal experience for non-Americans. They know that Y is bad, but are not willing to give up their X to improve someone else's Y.
Overlook this odd characteristic and they're basically a good bunch. As long as you don't try and take their guns off them I don't think RBP was being threatening. You put up a good argument (i.e. fight), and he was probably going to do likewise.
