You are misinformed. The head of the DHS (Dept. of Homeland Security) came out the other day and said that all the Federal officers are clearly marked as law enforcement and they are wearing patches that denote what branch they are affiliated with. The only thing they are not wearing are name tags because there have been threats to have these officers all doxxed for doing their jobs, putting both them and their families in danger. They are however wearing an identifier of some kind (I forgot what he said it was) that the agencies can use to identify each and every officer if they are caught doing something wrong.

So they are not 'secret police' and they have the full authority of the federal government because these rioters peaceful protesters are actively trying to damage federal owned property. Not to mention the fact that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) has authority to act anywhere within 100 miles of a coastline and/or international border in the United States.

Now I'm not sure which branches have been deployed other than ICE, but they may be also DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration), US Marshals, BAFTE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives), or FBI among others.
