You need more than a two party system, moderates would win the majority, and the shit wouldn't be able to influence as badly.
They don't come to the middle, they just polarise more and more.

There have been some moderate third party candidates (independent) in the past but they usually get very little media attention and don't get the financial backing of the left or right. Whole system is rigged.
