Well, we just took the first step towards getting Pepper a little 'brother' or 'sister'. As I think I mentioned before, I wanted to get a St Bernard when we were looking for a dog, but we just couldn't find one at a rescue group, and when they do show up at the shelters, they don't stay too long or they are already too old (since Saints only live on average of about 10 years, we didn't wanna get one that's already 5 or 6 years old and get attached to it and have it die too soon ). So, as much as I really hate buying a dog, I have been researching breeders and we found one we really like that has puppies due soon. We sent in a deposit on a new Saint Bernard puppy. If they are born on the anticipated scheduled date, we can get him or her right after Christmas...that is if we find a puppy in the litter that we like. If we change our mind or if there is no puppy we can agree on, then the deposit is refunded, so at this point we have nothing to lose.
