No wonder we won the Revolutionary War, you guys can't read maps
Tom tells me where I need to go
Well, if he's going to drop by Pony's for lunch, then there's no reason he can't drop my place for dinner... after he picks up the new horse.

Well, we got the new dog on Saturday. Drove to Nebraska and picked him up. He is so skinny still even though he had put on almost 30 pounds since he was rescued from his abusive owners. He's super affectionate considering what he's been through in the last year plus of his life. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that the rescue group was 100% honest or forthcoming concerning his behavior. He has a lot of issues that we will have to work thru, but we are sure he will be a good boy once he gets adjusted and knows that he isn't going to have to go anywhere ever again.
We took him to out vet last night and he got a clean bill of health which really puts us at ease knowing the poor boy was half starved and not cared for at all.
He seems to be fitting in rather well already, even though there have been a couple of minor skirmishes.

The other dogs should help correct his bad behavior due to pack mentality, etc.

His number 1 behavioral issue right now is food. He wolfs down every single meal like it will be his last. He goes apeshit as soon as he realizes we are getting food ready and because he eats the way he does, it makes it hard to feed the other 2 dogs because he will want to stick his face in their food as soon as he's done. Our other 2 dogs don't always eat all their food all at once when they are fed, but now we have to try and entice them to eat because we can't just leave their food bowls out with food in them because the new dog will eat it all.
That might take awhile to retrain, considering how underweight he was. He does need to slow down though, it's not good for him to wolf it all down like that. Maybe give him a half serving a bit before "dinnertime" to put something in his belly? Then the other half with the others?
He's definitely gotta learn which bowl is his and that the others are off limits.
